An article by IT News Italy says that Jack and Olivia are the United Kingdom’s favourite baby names, according to the leading Child Trust Fund (CTF) provider, The Children’s Mutual.
The article also mentions that unique names like Apple (the name of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter) and Sunday (the name of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s daughter) haven’t caught on as popular names for ordinary British citizens, despite being used by popular celebrities. (Source)
Here is an article about a woman going though the ups and downs of naming a baby. Some of her guidelines for naming her baby that the baby’s name couldn’t be in the top 100 of the Social Security popular names list. I guess some people don’t like names that are too common; I can understand that! But I’m okay with both common and uncommon names. There are great names in both categories!
Wales Online is reporting that Welsh parents are choosing traditional baby names lately. Baby names like Isaac and Rhys are popular names in Wales.
The article says although people give their kids unique names in other parts of Britain, people in Wales tend to stick with traditional names. (Source)
I think this is cool. Although I do like some unique names, I’m pretty sure if/when I have children, their names will be traditional as well, and mostly from the bible.

Another report about the unique and unusual names that celebrities give their babies.
Although names like Jacob, Michael and Emma are the most popular names according to SSA.gov, stars tend to give their babies very unusual names. I still think some of the unusual star baby names are OK. But names like Pilot Inspektor Lee (son of My Name is Earl star Jason Lee) is way out there. And Jason Lee should be kicked! LOL! Just Kidding (sort of). But really Pilot Inspektor is too much!
Well, we now know where the name Knox comes from. It was the name of Brad Pitt’s grandfather, Hal Knox Hillhouse, who passed away when Brad was eleven years-old. Here’s an article about parents trying to pick perfect baby names. The article mentions that a current popular name for baby boys is Jayden. I wonder if that has anything to do with Britney Spears naming one of her sons Jayden James.
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith also have a son named Jaden. Jayden (Jaden) is a pretty cool name; I like it.
An article about growing up with an unusual name and general life with having an unusual name. Very interesting! Read it here
My name is unusual and it’s pretty cool to have. Most people like it. So I guess it’s okay to have an unusual name, but hopefully for anyone with an unusual name, it’s a nice unusual name!
But that’s with any name, there are many common names I don’t particularly like. So, for instance, if someone is thinking about baby names; whether that name is common, uncommon or in between, it’s just always important to choose the baby name wisely!
