Welt.de reports the more families are taking their children on cruises to the Caribbean.

The article states that one of the reasons families are opting for the Caribbean - as opposed to somewhere like the Mediterranean - is because of wanting to cut down on spending.

I think it’s great that families are still finding a way to enjoy life and travel, even with the not-so-great financial times many are having. And it’s nice to see parents spending time with their children and taking them somewhere fun and exciting.

The Caribbean seems like an aweseom place to visit. But I’d like to do more than visit; I’d love to own a home in Barbados someday!

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s two-year-old son Kingston is helping
them come up with baby names for their soon-to-be born baby.

After reports about Gwen and Gavin keeping hush-hush about baby names earlier, Absolute Now has now reported that Gwen is getting her son Kingston involved in naming the baby so he won’t feel left out and will feel involved when the new baby arrives in August 2008.

What a cute story. And I think it’s a great idea to get Kingston involved. I do wonder now if they’ll actually pick one of the names he comes up with. I remember years ago Robin Williams’ son chose the name Zelda for his new baby sibling. So I think that’s nice when parents let their children get involved and help with baby names and such!

A pregnant Gwen Stefani and her husband, rocker Gavin Rossdale, visited the London Zoo on June 24, 2008, with their 2 year-old son Kingston. A reporter asks Gwen and Gavin what they are going to name their upcoming baby, but Gwen and Gavin keep mum! After the Zoo trip, they enjoyed a Chinese dinner with friends.

I am a bit curious about what the baby’s name will be, but I respect that Gwen and Gavin don’t want to give the name out. That’s if they even have a name yet!

A good story from Sioux City Journal about a woman who named her baby Molly, after the wife of her favorite customer. The article also mentions popular baby names and parents giving their babies distinctive and unique names. And what goes through their minds / the motivation for giving their child unique baby names.

I think unique baby names are fine, just as long as they aren’t too weird! :o)
And some unique names are actually quite pretty. For instance, the name Nevaeh is really pretty. Well, at least in my opinion.

So, I think it’s cool to be creative with baby names, but again, just nothing too weird!

17 year-old Jamie Lynn Spears, younger sister of Britney Spears, gave birth to a baby girl on June 19, 2008. The new baby, named Maddie Briann, weighed in at 7lbs 11 oz. Maddie’s father is 18 year-old pipe-layer Casey Aldridge. CONGRATULATIONS!

Okay now, I’m happy for Jamie and Casey. And I’m happy the baby is healthy, but 17 years-old is so young to be a mother. Babies having babies annoy me! Not to mention Jamie Lynn was on a tv show for kids on Nickelodeon called Zoey 101. I don’t know, it’s just sort of not cool! But what’s done is done, and may the Most High bless the Spears-Aldridge family!

Robin Kaminski writes about unusual baby names in her article Unusual monikers the order of today. She writes that one of the most unusual names in Lynn, MA is Nevaeh, which is Heaven spelled backwards. Nevaeh is actually a really cute name. And as for the name Heaven; I actually have a relative named Heaven. Yes, for real! At first I thought it was too odd to call a baby Heaven, but I’ve since gotten used to it.

Anyway, check out Robin’s article here. She also mentions some of the more popular baby names like Ryan, William, Emma and Olivia.

MSNBC is reporting that magazines are probably willing to pay upward of $20 million for the first pictures of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s twins when they’re born. That is crazy! LOL! But if people are willing to pay for the magazines - I am not - then I guess there’s no harm in it. Plus, it’s said they will probably donate the money to charity. I’m looking forward to seeing the new Jolie-Pitt babies, but I’ll just check out the pictures of them on Access Hollywood or something. Anyway, I’m sure the twins will be adorable. I wonder what Angelina and Brad are going to name the babies. That should be interesting!
